ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) is a non-profit organization, whose purpose is to contribute to the construction of a more digital and less unequal Brazil, in which information technology plays a fundamental role for the democratization of knowledge and the creation of new opportunities for all. In this sense, it aims to ensure a business environment conducive to innovation, ethical, dynamic and competitive globally, always aligned with its mission of connecting, guiding, protecting and developing the Brazilian information technology market.
A purpose that becomes indispensable in this challenging moment, in which we go through transformations of habits, customs and business management, which will certainly have a significant impact on our behavior, our priorities and forms of relationship.
Since its foundation in September 1986, ABES has sought to be relevant to its associates and national and international reference in the technology sector. Currently, the entity represents approximately 2,000 companies,77% of which are micro and small companies, which total about 85% of the revenues of the software and services segment in Brazil, distributed in 22 Brazilian states and the Federal District, responsible for generating more than 208,000 direct jobs and an annual turnover of R$ 63,7 billion in 2019.
The Brazilian market presents an excellent opportunity for foreign companies to invest. Brazil's IT sector grew by 9.8% in 2018, compared with a worldwide growth of 6.7%, according to IDC (International Data Corporation). The expectation is to grow 10.5% in 2019, a growth percentage higher than the world expectation, which should reach 4.9%. And according to IBOPE (Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics), the level of internet penetration in Brazil is 70%, representing approximately 149 million active internet users, the fifth largest market, behind China, India, the United States and Indonesia. However, Brazil has a negative perception for foreign investors, due to tax complexity, strong judicialization and expensive and time-consuming legal process. In this sense, ABES has over 33 year-experience in the legal, regulatory and tax areas, and can assist foreign companies wishing to operate in Brazil.
ABES makes available to interested foreign startups companies a specially designed “internship” program at no fee for 6 months. The objective to stimulate entrepreneurship and attracting investments to the Brazilian market. The program makes available to startups more than 33 years of experience of ABES in order to help them overcome the complexity of the Brazilian market. The program is made available through partnerships with incubators, accelerators, or investment funds, allowing startups to have access to all services offered by ABES to its associates, such as legal, tax consulting, access to market research, information on funding lines and government financing, and complete structure of compliance.
